About Coalition
COALition is more than just a project; it's a collaborative effort aimed at shaping a greener, more sustainable future for three selected territories in transitioning EU states: Western Macedonia (GR), Centru (RO), and Southeastern (BG). These regions, often termed as "widening," are at the forefront of change, and COALition seeks to empower them through a joint strategy for sustainable energy.
Our goal
Our goal is simple yet ambitious: to establish regional excellence hubs where stakeholders come together to define priorities and action plans that drive their transition efforts. Using a bottom-up, participatory approach, we believe in the power of collective action to effect positive change.
Research and Innovation Projects
To achieve our goals and under the research component of COALition, we started by implementing three joint research projects, all with a common goal: harnessing solar radiation to produce green and clean energy.
This approach aligns with our shared objectives of promoting environmental sustainability, protecting biodiversity, fostering job creation, and drafting a common strategy to advance research and innovation.
Comparative Analysis Report of Regional Contexts (Western Macedonia - GR, Centru - RO, Southeastern - BG)
The report provides a detailed analysis of the geographical scope and spatial structure of the three regions. It highlights the presence of coal mines and thermal power plants as key energy sources and explores the functional urban areas (FUA) and regions involved in the project.
